Williams Cattle Company provides exciting employment opportunities for motivated and enthusiastic people.

 

Station Hand, Head Stockman:

Station hands are employed on a permanent basis at each of the properties.
Occasionally short term opportunities arise on a casual basis.

We also employ head stockmen, providing station hands with the opportunity for promotion within the company, or to welcome well experienced employees from further afield.

The role description of station hand is varied and can include:

· mustering and other cattle management
· bore running
· repairing fences and yards
· maintenance of vehicles and plant
· operation of plant including graders and front end loaders
· welding
· general station duties.

Previous experience is an advantage,
and on the job training is provided.

Governess:

As some of the station families have school aged children, the position of governess will become available from time to time.

Cook:

The position of cook will become available from time to time at some of the stations.

Machine Operator:

A licenced and experienced operator of plant and machinery, including grader, loader and dozer, is required for short term and occasionally longer term contract work.

Contract Musterer:

Contract mustering opportunities may arise seasonally.

Living Conditions

 

As our properties are in isolated locations, all staff are required to live on site. We provide full board with excellent accommodation and facilities as part of the wage package that includes:

· Wi-Fi
· phone
· air conditioned accommodation (single persons or for couples if required)
· staff common areas
· all meals
· sunscreen
· laundry facilities

 

Coober Pedy as an excellent service centre and the mail and parcels are
delivered twice weekly by road to all of our pastoral properties.

There are daily bus services from Coober Pedy to Adelaide and Alice Springs and REX has a daily flight service between Adelaide and Coober Pedy.

There is a hospital and doctor in Coober Pedy, and a clinic in Oodnadatta.
RFDS regularly visits Oodnadatta for clinics and also visits the stations as required. All stations have immediate access to advice with RFDS.

William Creek and Oodnadatta are small centres that, along with Coober Pedy, have many social events throughout the year including race meetings and gymkhanas, bronco branding and campdrafts, cricket matches and from time to time host events such as the Variety Bash. The Marla Oodnadatta NRM (Natural Resource Management) group holds field days and community information sessions during the year. Staff are encouraged to join in these important community gatherings.

 

What you would need to
bring with you:

 

 

All bedding and towels are provided, along with soap and laundry detergent.
Employees are responsible for providing their own:

Any electronic equipment that you may wish to bring:
· mobile phones, laptops, iPads. (There isn’t mobile coverage at the stations but all have good Wi-Fi. Mobile coverage is available through both Optus and Telstra in Coober Pedy, William Creek and Oodnadatta.)
· swag, including sheets, quilts and pillows for the swag

Clothing: 
· shirts with sleeves and a collar
· a broad brimmed hat
· jacket/ jumpers for the cooler months
· work boots
